Sunday 30th January 2011

Hi all, this is the first in a series of blog entries we'll be submitting charting the trials and tribulations of life on a Sussex farm and running a small rural business or two.

Had a great day today working at our greenhouse in Glynde potting on ferns, aubretia and various others on a beautiful sunny day.  The bulbs are now pushing through and some starting to flower all in perfect time for the tea room opening.  We had Bramble the farm dog in tow having walked over the Caburn from farm to greenhouse. Strong cold winds atop the Caburn but sheltered and warm down in Glynde Gardens.  Planting in earnest to start soon with the aid of Erika's biodynamic      calendar.

Preparations for the tea room have gathered pace and required us to spend Saturday sampling various cakes, scones and brownies; tough stuff this catering lark!  Great to have some lovely countryside to walk off the calories.

We have a busy week ahead as dog sitting the farm dogs this week and Mathew is feeding and littering that cattle at Bushy Lodge and we start the preparations for spring in the tea room garden.  With the days getting longer there is really the feel that spring will soon be upon us.  We really can't wait!
