The Greenway - Good news for walkers and cyclists

We have just been sent the following link which suggests that the proposed flooding of the lower Ouse may not now be going ahead .... http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/news/126277.aspx?page=4&mo...

The Environment Agency has recently reviewed a plan which sets out how flood and erosion risk will be managed for the next 100 years on the River Ouse from the A27 road bridge to Newhaven, and the coastline between Newhaven and Seaford.

Cycle Seahaven ... with much support from many Village Connections... are keen to see a cycle path developed alongside the riverbank and now believe that there is a good chance that the work to build up the river banks could also cost effectively include a cycle path at the same time?  The development of a greenway from Newhaven to Lewes would have many benefits: health & obesity, sustainable & green, local and national strategy,  a leisure and utility route connecting all the Ouse valley villages between Newhaven & Lewes...

It would be great to finally link our County town to our international sea port so we can walk/cycle from Newhaven and Seaford to Lewes.
This is our chance to make our views known... respond to the new plan using this link:
Copies of the draft plans are available from Lewes, Seaford and Newhaven libraries. You can request a copy by calling 08708 506 506 or emailing OusetoSeaford@environment-agency.gov.uk
Draft plans are available for comment until Tuesday 15 February 2011 from the Environment Agency webpage at:

A Village Connections and Cycle Seahaven Ouse valley cycle ride is being planned for this Spring...
