The blogs on this site include more amazing photographs and down to earth explanations of terms like ecosystem services which I have found very helpful.!

Colin Tingle a local and international ecologist is working alongside SWT, NEF, TTL and others on new plans to find new ways of better valuing the aspects of our natural environment on which the fragile balance of of our wonderful world relies...

One of the ideas currently being considered is linking the protection of ecosystems services such as local biodiversity to the daily use of our local currency. A new group has just been formed and welcomes any one who is interested in developing these ideas further . Colin recommends reading The UN Environmental Policy document “The Role of Ecosystems in developing a sustainable economy” and can be contacted @ tc09@gn.apc.org,...

The work of the University of Brighton We value project http://www.wevalue.org/ in promoting “values -based” Education for Sustainable Development may be relevant to this plan.

Their newly developed, tried and tested toolkit of indicators seeks to reveal invisible qualitative local values which when expressed as quantifiable indicators of sustainable development can be seen to be more fully in tune with the aspirations of  local people allowing for much more sensitive sustainable worldwide devlopment.

All this valuable new work with values is an original and refreshing response to the concerns of Albert Einstein’s that :

”not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be counted counts”... and that “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them!
