ESCC have accepted the reccommendation at a Public Inquiry this summer that West Beach be formally registered as... a village green.

The Mayor of Newhaven, Councillor Graham Amy remains confident that, although Newhaven Port Properties are still challenging this decision, the local community will continue to enjoy this sheltered sandy beach in future as they have for many years.

Twinning of Newhaven with La Chapelle Saint Mesmin, a small town in the Loire Valley, is to go ahead as Newhaven residents are now making plans to meet up for the first time with their new friends across the channel.
